NZ Today magazine cover - Trevor Lamb

Well, strike me down, it seems that the cover model for the latest edition of NZ TODAY is none other than our good mate Trevor Lamb. And even more astonishing, retailers have neither refused to stock it, or organised a book-burning!

NZ Today magazine cover - Trevor LambIn fact, the opposite seems to have happened- it sold out in Carterton and had to be re-ordered. I’m obviously nominating the magazine editor for a New Zealand Cross, because I can’t think of anything more brave than sticking Trev on the front and expecting to sell copies.

For my money, writer and photographer Allan Dick has captured a lovely slice of Carterton. Too often some round-ups I’ve read suggest that essentially there are no eateries or accommodation in Carterton, and that you may as well head to Greytown. In Allan’s travels across the north isle, he displays a knack for uncovering local gems and obviously enjoys talking to people from all walks of life. He then does a great job of sharing those stories on paper.

So if you get a chance, grab a copy. For Catertonians, it’s an interesting perspective on Stonehenge Aotearoa, our various mayors, the Matador Motel, Cafe Mirabelle and of course, our man Trevor. But the rest of the article, taking in Whanganui, Wellington, Castle Point and more, is fascinating too, and Allan’s photos are stunning. Highly recommended!

Anyway, I’ve uploaded pics of the Trev bits- click on them to see them bigger.

Cheers,

Trev’s good mate Joel Liochon moved to France last year. Joel’s an amazing illustrator and jewellery designer, as well as being a huge steampunk fan. So it’s little wonder that he loves Trev’s astonishing steampunk helmets, and spends time wandering around Paris in one.

Happily, he’s sent some photos over, so you can see the helmet out in the wild.

It looks like Joel’s in some weird and wonderful steampunk museum. Ah, those crazy Frenchies- you’ve got to love them!

If you grab the latest Carterton Street Scene, you’ll see the cover features one strikingly handsome individual:

Well, it’s got Trev on it anyway. (Only kidding, mate!)

Well we went over to the All American Car Show….as usual it was a hoot.  The weather threatened all day but didn’t end up to bad!!  The cars were amazing, the M/Bikes were khoul, the music was my kind of music…..and added to the day.   But the best thing of the day was the people.  At these shows people just seem to be happy, kicked back and enjoying themselves.  They really are a pleasure to talk to and interact with.  So all in all it was a great day….which I guess means we will head back next year.  We were told about a number of other shows, that are going to be well worth heading to….so as they say “Watch this space” as they come up I’ll be posting flyers on this blog site..

I’ve inserted some images from the show……so have a look and feel free to leave a comment!!

That Trevor Lamb man has been busy! Hot off the press are these brilliant photos of the helmets he did for the fantastic folks at NZONE Skydive. Trev’s talked about taking his work to new heights, but this is ridiculous.

I’m sure Trev will blog more about the making of the helmets and the fact they’ve gone so well he’s got to crank out a whole lot more, but in the meantime, here’s some more photos:

Trev’s just passed on some pictures of an amazing bag he did for Lily, and there are more on the way, so now we’ve got a new menu above for BAGS! Here’s one of the shots:

I’m sure you’d agree with me that it just looks astonishing, and I’m buzzing to see what he comes up with next! Keep an eye out here and I’ll get more pictures up as soon as I can.

Cheers,
Minty

My good friend Joel, who is currently living in Paris, put these images together for me. He’s done another great job, as he usually does!! They show how some of my helmets were used in this movie, the Peter Jackson re-make of the classic King Kong story.

Well we’re now into a New Year.  I’m a little behind with keeping this Blog up to date.  Since the last entry I have been to the first Annual Country Craft Fair.

This looks as though it has a huge potential to grow and develop into something good….here’s hoping.  For me it was going back to a market that I haven’t visited for a while.  It also means that I have to change the product to suit this market next time.

Things are looking great for this coming year, which is a huge positive.  I have gathered a number of new images, which will get posted on the blog….and be place into the relative Tabbed sections.  So keep coming back as the site will be growing, and evolving.  It is here that I have to mention Minty and Bek….the IT admind people.  Not only are they neat people, but are great to be working with.  Minty is just so great at tidying up my site…….wish he would do the same with my workshop….guess that isn’t going to happen!!  Never mind.

Trev’s going to be at American Vehicle Day, so grab your yank tank and head on down there on the 6th of Feb! Details in the flyer below.

Well we’re back from the Show and back into work again…..The show was just so Weigh Khoul!! One of the best organised show’s of that size that I’ve been involved with. I’m sure they had the odd hiccup and hassle to deal with, you just have to when a show is as big as this one……but from a stall holders point of view, things ran real well. Most things seemed be sorted and or covered.
All this helped make the weekend a real Hoot.
Now I’m currently working on a number of projects. One of which is an order for a number of Sky Diving Fraps (Helmets)…also this Saturday (11th Dec) is the Country Craft day show in Greytown (My home Town).
Now a Huge big shout out to Bek and Minty (Nectarine) They have created a board game….“Five Men Standing” I understand this is now the official Rugby World Cup Board Game….Look for it in the shops or use the link on this site to get to “Nectarine” The game really is just soooo Weigh Khoul.
